What is continuous delivery? It is a solution that is intended to eliminate the traditional slowdowns in software development. The basic idea is to develop a system that will gradiently improve software by the delivery of working software elements at each stage. These elements can be tested and assembled into a complete application while taking needed improvements and requirement changes into account. And so, continuous delivery is an approach to software development that allows users to receive new features as quickly as possible.
Ideally, UAT testing should provide the opportunity to uncover any remaining bugs, and to test usability directly in the operational environment. These tests should generate a confident certainty that the software will function as designed when it goes live. However, this isn't always the case.
These days it so easy for consumers to change technology products. Most technology is linked to a subscription based model which has no lock in dates and are typically month to month and based on consumption. In most modern contracts between an organisation and a third-party software developer, or software engineering company, there is a warranty period. This warranty period is generally a fixed period after a software product has been built and provides an organisation with an assurance that if there are bugs discovered within this time they will fix them at no charge.
A software glitch has resulted in the BC Lottery Corporation awarding nine gamblers more than one million dollars. The problem occurred in the Wizard of Odds slot machine game and caused an error message to be displayed, rather than players being notified when they had won the progressive jackpot. The glitch also appears to be localized and restricted only to PlayNow.com.
Agile testing was born in 2001. It was the outgrowth of a dream to rescue software testing from the corporate mindset. Which brings up the question, “Why would it need rescuing?” There comes a time in the life of every group when the tried and true no longer works, when what has proven successful in the past becomes antiquated and gets in the way of functionality. The reason for this is very simple and easy to understand, nobody’s perfect.
